Get active in manta ray and whale shark conservation
Become an ambassador for shark and ray protection by adopting a manta or whale shark. Our ‘Adopt a Manta’ and ‘Adopt a Whale Shark’ programs help to cover our operational costs for fieldwork (particularly petrol), while also giving adoptive parents the chance for personal involvement in our research and and conservation efforts.
Our adoption package includes high-resolution photographs of your new, rather large family member, an official adoption certificate and some of ourfavourite underwater photographs. We'll keep you updated on our work through our regular research updates (and the news section on this site). Most importantly you'll also be sent new photos and information as we see your shark or ray again, either here in Mozambique or wherever else in the world it might pop up...
To adopt, email Simon for a shark or Andrea for a manta ray. Please include your name, mailing address and your preference for the sex and name for your adoptee. We'll email you back to arrange things further. The price, €65 for each animal, is linked to our field costs – one adoption allows two days out on our dedicated research boat. We guarantee that your shark or ray will not pester you for cash, will not leave the house with their room untidy and will not annoy you by communicating solely in grunts. Nobody's offering that deal for teenagers.
